Line 4:
The Partetravirus are a genus of viruses in the family Parvoviridae.
History
The first members of this genus were described in 2005. These new viruses were recognised as being related to but distinct from the known Parvoviridae. They were isolated from a group of patients who had engaged in high risk behavior for Hepatitis C and other blood borne viral infections. Other members of this group were isolated from animal sources in Hong Kong. These isolates were originally referred to as Hokoviruses. They have been isolated from wild boars in Germany and chimpanzees and baboons. They have also been isolated from sheep<ref name=Tse2011>Tse H, Tsoi HW, Teng JL, Chen XC, Liu H, Zhou B, Zheng BJ, Woo PC, Lau SK, Yuen KY (2011) Discovery and genomic characterization of a novel ovine partetravirus and a new genotype of bovine partetravirus. ==Description==
The viruses are small, non enveloped animal viruses with a single-stranded DNA genome between 4 and 6 kb in length. There are at least 2 open reading frames a(ORF) re present in the genome ORF1 encodes the non-structural proteins and ORF2 encodes the viral capsid proteins.
